I havent been spending 2 yrs developing, as I've been busy with real life work. No one other than some close trustest gaming people have seen the new tool and I've not advertised it for good reasons. The last version recieved over 500,000 downloads across various sites, so I am hoping to either match that, a million would make my day, but not really realistic!

The system uses a brand new plugin system, where everything from game loaders, zip/rar compression are all plugins that can be loaded into the system. There are all the things you have seen in 2.6, but this version has some new CryEngine specific things plus general modding features that will entend Crytools into more than just the CryEngine scene. It will also be Crysis 2 compatible as all I have to do is rewrite one of the existing plugins.

An SDK will be released so if people are interested they can write their own, but this wont be for a few months after the product release.

So just watch this space, as it will be released here as a public beta 1 week for a full public release.

FCML v5

FCMLv5 was released yesterday. The change was to include the ability to dynmaically patch FarCry to 1.1. The main reason was since patch FC Patch 1.33, there was a shadow bug creating a grid on the terrain. With this fix, you can now patch to 1.1, generate the terrain without the grid bug and quickly flick back to a more recent patch.

V5 Download HERE: http://www.filefront.com/15958849/FCMLv5.zip

v1: - Bug when not show maps/images
v2: - Fixed v1 bug
v3: - Fixed bug with 64bit Operating systems. As I have a lot of respect for Crytek and their Copyright/IPR, I will adhere to their request.

So, once again, I am having to break apart CryTools to remove the code for the feature completely, as I dont want to run the risk of someone decompiling my application to get at the code. I played with some simple cube models made in 3D Max, then made them user selectable, much like the Race Track pieces. They were then injected into a Crysis map and the result could potentially be a City Generator. I've got some thoughts buzzing in my head for example:

CrySnap generates a random road grid automatically

It could take a user input value (integer) and place street lights at the set interval along the roads

Buildings could be the either be randomly selected and placed by CrySnap or left to the user

The result could easily turn into a City Generator for Crysis, allowing anyone to quickly create Cities. I need to think about it a little more but its seems a high possibility.

Other Tools

When you code, you find you have a tendancy to start creating other Projects. So, here are two applications I having been simultaneously been working on, along side CryTools.

MyCryLoader: - 85% complete

This is an Application Editor for creating your own Crysis, FarCry or Crysis Wars loader exe's. You can skin it however you want, add whatever controls you need. For example, you can have combos for levels or a list view, you can chose which ones you want added and then simply move them to the position you want. You can use standard windows controls or supplied customised ones.

After you are happy with your look and feel, it will then compile a new application for you. Your very own fully customised loader that you can distribute or use for you mod as a loader.

This is currently what the Editor looks like: The App simulates what your compiled output looks like by also grabbing your current Desktop image

Below is an example output done for a FarCry member Garcy with a custom button (orange) that loads the users selection. With the editor, this was created in 20 minutes, which included creating the GUI skin. This is now his launcher for his Mod. Nice, clean and easy to make/use.

CrySnap: - 50% complete
CrySnap is a Race Track editor. Track pieces are simply drag n dropped onto a grid allowing you to make any race track you want, with over 60 pieces of track, it allows for maximum track flexibility. Once you have laid you track (which takes seconds to do) you can add misc items such as stadiums, bridges, pitstops etc. As the grid will snap the pieces together, there is no need for irritating adjustments of alignments in SandBox2.

When you are happy with you track, click Export and the application will inject the neccessary code into a Crysis map. You then just load the map up in Sandbox 2 and start painting the terrain as the Race Track is already fully built.

With this method, you can create an unlimited number of race tracks within minutes, be it a serious race track or a mad loop the loop Trackmania style track.

CryTools 2.6 Update

Whilst I am still working on v3 of Crytools, below is a link for a bug fix update for the currently released Crytools (2.4).

Installation:
Close CryTools. (you only need to do this once) Now, simply click what version you want to run and it will dynamically patch FC to that version and keep it PB and XT kick proof.

You will be told when the patch is successful (it only takes about 3-8 seconds) and it will ask you if you want to load FC, which it will do for you. If it is already patched to a version, say 1.33, you can still hit the patch button as it will just load FC 1.33. ie there is no harm in patching a 1.33 install to 1.33. So its a loader and patcher all-in-one

Benefits are: No multiple installs neededFully XT and PB compliantSaves at least 4GB's of space as the app makes FC uses the 1 install for all patchesOnly reason why this app is 40mb is because 1.33 and 1.4 use a different version of mp_jungle.NEEDS .Net2 installed (which you should have anyway)Doesnt matter what you have installed, 1.33 or 1.4, as this will patch it either way.

DOWNLOAD: http://rapidshare.com/files/180405325/FCLoader4_fixed.rar

CryMash for Crysis

CryMash allows you to Mash any mini mods into a single Mod that is created in the Mods Folder, so no more putting files in the Game folder!

The concept is that with all the skins packs, additional wepaons etc all being released as a single files like zzzmyskin.pak etc, you can easily merge (Mash) them into a single Mod, thus not have to keep putting things in your Game folder, as this MashUp tool will create a Mod for you in realtime.

DOWNLOAD: http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1408&lim=10

ReadyMP for Crysis

ReadyMP is a little app that checks your "PunkBuster" compliancy for Patch 1.21 before going online and saves you the headache and embarrasment of being kicked.Ideally its for mappers and modders that play/test online, but can be also used by general players. You then go online and suddenly you faced embassingly with PB kicks because your files look like they have been altered. There are 3 stages to it:

Installation guide:
Execute the downloaded installer and enjoy :)
DOWNLOAD: http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=332&lim=30
